While the ukulele is most often associated with the music of Hawaii, the diminutive four-string instrument has made an impression in the larger musical world. So it is that the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain was launched in 1985, leveraging and showcasing the versatility of the uke. In fact, while the most well-known configuration of the instrument is small, ukuleles are designed in many sizes, from soprano to bass. The Orchestra employs the versatility afforded by that range, with an approach both modern and rooted in tradition. With more than four decades of touring experience, the UOGB is an international sensation.
