MACLA continues to bring groundbreaking artists that are influencing contemporary Latinx art. This October, Cristal González Avila will be showing a work-in-progress of her upcoming show, What If She Could Walk? After the show, there will be a Q&A to prepare for the full production in February 2027. What If She Could Walk? is a collaborative piece using monologue, ritual, physical storytelling, and a live, original score to uplift stories of disabled women, undocumented laborers, and intergenerational caretakers in a way that resembles community story circles. Pulling from ancestral knowledge and rituals, Cristal González Avila and the other artists build a sensory world, sharing experiences and stories often left behind.
