Beginning her recording career as an independent artist, R&B/jazz/neo-soul vocalist Ledisi attracted critical acclaim and a dedicated following, which led to a high-profile record deal with Verve Forecast. Her debut for that label, 2007’s Lost & Found, earned her a Best New Artist nomination at the Grammys. Ledisi’s sustained success eventually led to her launching her own label (Listen Back Entertainment) and scoring 16 Grammy nominations to date, with one win in 2021. Acknowledging her roots, Ledisi has released albums in tribute to Nina Simone (2021’s Ledisi Sings Nina) and her latest, 2025’s For Dinah, celebrating Dinah Washington.
