Mission Chamber Orchestra of San José (MCOSJ) celebrates its 30th anniversary with Northern Light, a dynamic season opener! Conducted by Juan Cristóbal Palacios, the program begins with Emilie Mayer’s Faust Overture inspired by Goethe’s story of redemption, and ends with the classical drama of Sibelius’ Third Symphony. The heart of the concert, Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor, stars pianist Jon Nakamatsu as soloist. Now in his third decade of touring worldwide, the 1997 Van Cliburn Gold Medalist is renowned for his technical precision and poetic interpretation. The orchestra will also be joined by student musicians from Fremont High School.
