Nova Vista Symphony, the largest long-standing community orchestra in Santa Clara Valley, presents its 61st concert season. Over 70 volunteer musicians, led by Maestro Anthony Quartuccio, perform alongside 2016 Cliburn International Amateur Piano Competition winner Thomas Yu. Beginning with a pre-concert talk, the program includes Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 6, Ives’ “Variations on America” Gershwin’s “An American in Paris,” and “Dances in the Canebrakes” by Florence Price–the first African-American composer to be recognized as a symphonic composer. Attendees 21 and under receive free entry, in hopes of expanding and educating tomorrow’s audiences about classical music and orchestra instruments.
