San Francisco’s Top Chefs have figured out how to make hip-hop, jazz, R&B and soul coexist without anyone getting into an argument about what genre they’re actually playing. Led by emcee Afterthought, the nine-piece outfit brings serious musicianship and a distinctly Bay Area sensibility to the stage. Their Stoop Sessions, filmed outside Afterthought’s childhood home in the Fillmore, have turned neighborhood performances into something considerably bigger. Fresh off a standout appearance at San Jose Jazz Summer Fest, they’re back to prove the Bay Area still knows how to cook.
