Launched in Melbourne in 1979, Australia’s Men at Work truly took off once MTV entered the game. Appealing and catchy tunes like “Who Can It Be Now?”, “Down Under” and “Be Good Johnny,” all featured on the band’s 1981 album debut Business As Usual, earned the band hits worldwide. 1983’s followup Cargo performed nearly as well, but the party was over not long thereafter, as the group split acrimoniously. Happily, leader Colin Hay eventually revived the group with a new lineup, and continues to this day, delighting fans of tuneful pop and carefree ’80s nostalgia. Toad the Wet Sprocket and Shonen Knife are also on the bill.
