Rin makes intimate indie pop for the portion of the evening when staring at the ceiling has somehow become an activity. The singer-songwriter’s songs trade in hushed vocals, bedroom production and diary-page vulnerability, building a following online without sanding away the homemade qualities that made the music connect in the first place. The Dearest Diary Tour brings Rin to The Ritz with Sabrina Sterling, another young songwriter comfortable turning anxiety, relationships and emotional wreckage into something unexpectedly pretty. It’s a pairing built less around spectacle than proximity, the kind of show where a packed room can somehow still feel like someone accidentally left their journal open.
