Brandy Clark is a pivotal singer/songwriter of the 21st Century. Her songs have been recorded by everyone from Miranda Lambert to Reba McEntire. Beginning in 2013, Clark’s songs have been nominated for numerous Grammy Awards. Might sound corny, but the music she wrote with longtime collaborator Shane McAnally, for the Broadway play, Shucked, won a Tony Award. A small town woman, like Clark herself, leaves behind a dying town to find a connection that is heartwarming and funny. If there’s a theme behind one of America’s greatest composers, it is the struggle for acceptance and community in a bleak, but beautiful, world.
