Taking refuge from the Russian invasion of their home country, Grand Kyiv Ballet is operating out of the International Ballet Academy in Bellevue, Washington. Performing the work of Russia’s most well-known and well-loved composer may seem an odd choice for the Ukrainian ballet company, but Tchaikovsky, in his time, was an ambassador of goodwill between the two lands as he was very fond of Ukraine, where his great-grandfather was born and where he still had family. This touring show presents an opportunity to enjoy Swan Lake while supporting a Ukrainian dance company.
