Gawker’s once-relevant tech blog Valleywag took itself down a notch when its editor, former “Fake Steve Jobs” columnist Dan Lyons got called out for referring to Pando Daily’s Sarah Lacy as a “shrill harpy.” Lyons tenure at Valleywag lasts all of six weeks.

Of course, the settlement did not admit antitrust

Apple, Google, Intel and Adobe settled a class-action lawsuit for $415 million after conspiring for years to limit tech workers’ wages and job mobility by not recruiting each others’ employees. The colluding companies agreed to never enter into such an accord again. Wink. Wink.

Rihanna forgave him, though

In the early hours of Sunday, Jan. 11, shots rang out inside San Jose’s Fiesta Nightclub as R&B crooner Chris Brown performed his love ballad about hoes being disloyal. Five people were wounded in the shooting spree, Brown’s probation was revoked, the club got sued and had its permit pulled.

The hashtag is mightier than the bullet

#BlackLivesMatter started as a trending topic, an expression of outrage over police shooting unarmed black men. But by the outset of 2015 the movement had become a force to be reckoned with. It would enter the presidential debates-at least on the Democratic side-and influence policies on police accountability.
